P90X – The Pros & Cons

We will start by looking at the P90X workout in the P90X vs Insanity debate by looking at the pros and cons of the workout program.  For starters it was developed by Tony Horton of Team Beach Body and has quickly become one of the most popular at home workout programs in history.  Here are some of the benefits to using this home workout program:

- Muscle Building

By combining the use of both yoga and weight lifting techniques you will be able to quicly add strength and muscle mass to your body over a quick period of time.  By combining the workout methods and nutritional benefits the program will provide you, you will see some excellent results quickly.  By combining the yoga techniques you will learn how to relax your body and to build a strong core at the same time.

- Increased Cardiovascular Health

Building muscle is not the only thing you will be doing with this workout program.  In addition to that you will have plenty of cardio to keep you moving to include Kenpo, plyometrics, and some low impact fat burning routines to keep your heart running at peak performance.  You will have the ability to adjust these routines to fit your personal fitness level.  As you improve your level of fitness you will then be able to ratchet up the difficulty of the workout.  You will not be left bored with the amount of cardiovascular routines throughout this program.

- Improved Flexibility

Through the use of yoga you will quickly increase the balance, flexibility and coordination of your body.  Most individuals look at yoga as a way of relaxing and not a way to build additional strength.  We can assure you even if you are a body builder at the end of this routine you will have a full body workout you can respect.  Many people ignore proper stretching and flexibility when it comes to their health and this is a mistake, especially as we get older.  By not having proper flexibility the increased risk of injury increases.  There is no question the benefits of yoga are endless with P90X.

- Increased Weight Loss

By using this method to the fullest you will be able to shed weight and add on the muscle you have been looking for.  With the combination of exercise and proper nutrition you will become a fat burning machine that will give you the ability to drop weight quickly and this will allow you to finally get into the best shape of your life.  Clearly something we all desire! With that said all methods have some drawbacks and that is the case with P90X, nothing is absolutely perfect.  You will have to have some fitness equipment in order to perform this workout routine.  In order to do this program to the max you will need dumbbells, a pull-up bar, and a workout mat.  If you have the money to purchase this equipment and room to use it in this will not be a problem.

Again, all programs have their negatives but fortunately both of these programs have very little in the way of bad.  The only small drawback to this in comparison to P90X is you not gain as much muscle mass.  The primary focus of this program is cardio related exercises.  There is nothing wrong with this because you will see muscle increases, just not as much in comparison.  The bottom line is Insanity will help you achieve the body of your dreams.
